KRYSTYN MACGREGOR GRAPHIC DESIGN

I am a seasoned art director and graphic designer. I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer in Washington, D.C. and Cincinnati.

Using my passion for conceptualizing, developing, and executing a project, I have created dynamic graphics and branding for large scale events, individuals, small businesses, educational programs, and public services. As an Art Director for the Smithsonian Institution, I gained extensive experience designing signs and banners for both indoor and outdoor use; books, brochures, newsletters, and collateral; advertisements and fund-raising literature; children's guides and learning kits; products, T-shirts, and CDs; and labels and forms.

My communication skills have been enhanced by working with people from all walks of life including curators, educators, scientists, artists, creative teams, national agencies such as NASA, international governments, small business owners, and individuals. I know how to listen attentively.

I am committed to creating compelling designs that articulate meaning; meaning should dictate form. My work reflects a profound interest in design history and humanitarianism. I value the beauty of integrity in design and the inestimable power of teamwork.

At the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, meeting people from many different cultures who strive for excellence was inspiring, as were my coworkers. Throughout the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the staff have a great sense of joie de vivre. Their individual and collective kindness, empathy, and down-to-earth attitudes are sincere and genuine. It was an honor to work there.

While working as a freelance graphic designer, I continue to meet enthusiastic people from many walks of life who motivate and inspire me. I am also pursuing my love of oil painting, and remodeling a house that was built in 1910. After doing most of the renovations myself, I could write a home improvement book titled "What Not To Do!" I have survived and thrived, however, and I love my new life, designing and painting.

I hope you enjoy my Web site. I look forward to hearing from you.
